Kydex Rivet Presses

I made a sheath tonight. Its okay but I want to find screws to hold everything together. Any thoughts on where to get screws to hold .060 kydex together?

The 1/8" Chicago screws should work. If you find them in Black Oxide please let me know where!

Hey Steve...

The problem with black ox on aluminum is that it'll last about 5 minutes once you start using it...

You'd almost be better to pop them all onto a piece of cardboard and hit them with flat black high heat BBQ paint...

Black will still only last about 6 minutes..:)

According to what I've been told by local people I've tried to order screws from, the black oxide ones are on steel, not aluminum. They last pretty well. I haven't used the black aluminum ones. I had a guy who had black anodized aluminum and they were decent but really expensive.

I've experimented with heat coloring stainless steel screws. If you really let 'em have it they turn sort of a dull gray, but not black. Pretty durable, though.

Hey Steve...

Interesting.. Stainless posts...

Haven't seen any of those before..

Brass yes,,but not stainless...

Oh, sorry, the posts I use are aluminum. I thought you meant the screws. Although I have seen black anodized posts. The posts are always on the back side of my sheaths, so they are unnoticeable. I still like screws over eyelets because you can prop the sheath open to clean it really well. 6 of 1 1/2 dozen of the other! :D

Hey Steve...

I can get you Stainless Black Ox screws both 1/2" and 3/8" as well as black ox eyes in 6:8 6:10 8:8 8:10

Drop me a note if you need anything..

I think the 3/8" are too long. I swear I had a ton of black oxide 1/8" (posts) screws from Blade-Tech way back when they sold all the stuff for making sheaths. They're a bugger to find... I ordered some locally, forgot all about them, and now no one has the order anymore. It was like $5 for 100 screws, and no one knows what I'm talking about or can find 2-56 with 1/8" post. Any ideas? Unless I'm smoking crack and 3/8" is what I need...??

Hey Steve...

Don't think you've been smoking crack,, but you might want to stay away from the Ultrasound Gel for awhile..:)

You and I were buying from bladetech at the same time, and I had a smaple package sent to me of all of their fasteners..

I've never seen,, from there or anywhere 1/8" posts...

The normal standard is 1/4".. I've seen them in black oxide as well,,and wasn't impressed,, as well as the cheezy alum screws....

Got a question for you...

Why you want them so short ??

Why not use 1/4" posts ??
