I'm going to do some kydex sheaths on some knives. However, which should I do first? Cerakote? or Kydex Sheath?
I'm worried that if it is cerakote first then the kydex. It might scratch the the coating
Coat the blade first. Then give them 2 layer of blue tape when you make the kydex sheath to add extra space. Once you have the kydex fitted to the knife with tape on it. Gently using a heat gun go over the sheath with the knife inside to release any tight spots on the blade.
Then you can take off the tape and the blade will fit nicely and not wear the finish, except of course where it rubs where it snap in.
