Nice job, Horus!!! As Normark stated, I've been doing this style of sheath for a bunch of years for any of the big blades, not just the Bagwell type Bowies. It's an old time carry, and I quite frankly don't know why you don't see more of it, 'cause it works very well for carrying a large blade concealed. With a big knife, there is no need for straps, cord chain, etc. as long as the tension/release is set right, but that's the trick in doing one. With smaller blades (5" blade and below), you will be better off with an IWB loop of some sort (chain or cord included, as well as "G" clips) - this has to do with the blade to handle length ratio. I've done a few with 5" blades, but feel more comfortable with 6" as the lower cut-off limit of practicality for the stud alone to work. If the handle is longer than the blade, the unit will tend to shift more with movement, as well as being a little top heavy and wanting to pull out from the body instead of hugging it - that's why you need some sort of anchor for the sheath. The longer blades allow belt pressure to keep the unit snug to the body without shifting, and if tensioned properly, the knife will release from the sheath with ease. If concealment isn't an issue, just shove the sheath behind the belt at whatever angle, and the stud prevents it from falling below belt level. Extremely versatile form of carry.
