Kydex Sheath

I don't know, Cliff. Now I'm starting to get scared! I don't think that 0.093" thick material will be thick enough for a khukuri, and I don't have the means of bonding materials like Edge Works has. This is getting pretty complicated...my sheaths tend to be straightforward and simple because that allows me to introduce a very durable and high quality product into the market for a production price. Something like that would cost a LOT for me to do, and I'm not even sure if I could do it even then.

Chiro, there's another way of skinnin' this cat.

If it's not already clear, Scott used a sheet of .125" for the "base plate" underneath and two layers of .60 on top, and with luck you can see how they're patterned to allow "flex" on the top sheet.

Well, the other way is to use nothing but .93 top and bottom, and on the top sheet carve it so a large amount of the blade area is exposed...in other words, the same pattern Scott used on the top-most half of the top sheet.

Then graft a layer of LEATHER on the very top, covering the whole thing including the entire blade surface not covered by the top layer of kydex.

It would certainly be an interesting look. The only problem would be in lack of wet-weather wear...suggesting maybe a switch to some other flexible material for a "top layer. Neoprene? Cordura? Dunno.

I *was* going to experiment with it myself, but I'm completely buried in this freakin' lawsuit, I MUST NOT LOSE or I'll be in debt for over $20,000 in opposing lawyer legal bills...so distractions are just plain OUT right now.
