without a arbor press is there any other way to set the kydex rivets?

Get the dies (if you haven't already)...set whatever die you want in the chuck and using a piece of wood or aluminum or whatever, drill a hole for the bottom die. Works great. !

Only if you're using Tandy's eyelets. Tandy's setters will not work with KnifeKits (CKK) eyelets.
Yes, I use Tandy's eyelets. Why they will not works with the other brand's eyelets (if the diameter is the same, of course)? What is special about the dies so they do not have such problem?

I use this set of eyelet pliers that I got from ebay. I had been using Indian George's set, but figured I needed my own. The grommets they send you are really too short for kydex, so you would need other longer rivets.

I also really get them set in using my little anvil and a dead blow hammer.

Buy the dies from Knifekits or something similar and you can get an arbor press from Harbor Freight for cheap if you don't want to use a drill press.

I use eyelet rivets as well but I also use cyanoacrylate adhesive on some holsters and sheaths. Works quite well and I don't have to buy extra hardware; the glue is cheaper, too.
