Jens,
how about adding on to your tutorial, and showing us all how you do your sheaths that are wrapped in exotic leathers? I would be very interested in seeing your technique.

Thanks Darrel...it was fun!..Believe it or not..I just sat down rewriting it in dansih for our knifemag..I had to start from scratch asNOONE know what kydex is over here.....I think I am the only one using it besides a couple of guys who bought a few pieces from me.
Thank you for sharing that procedure. I, not wishing to get into leather work, will be following your teachings. This looks like a good way for me to start.
Nope- I didn't tie the fly, I just use them My nickname came from my GrandFather's love of fly fishing, and his favorite fly- the WinDancer. It was what would now be tied as a parachute coachman, always with a barbless hook. Some 45 years ago.
I've been researching making kydex sheathes a bit lately, and this was a great help (pics are always very helpful). Thanks
I have already ordered all the stuff I will need to make some kydex sheathes (I think ), and have made a mold. However, I used futon-like spongy material for the mold. Is that suitable, or should I use something else?
Also, I don't have a heat gun. I plan to use an oven to heat the kydex. Is that enough? If not, will a hair dryer do?
