Kyle Hanson DH3 Collaboration

Evil big sister with EVIL hamon! Tremendous piece out of Steam Mill Hollow. The bog oak was a good choice here.

Dear DHIII and KH, thank you very much to make my day better by seeing this beauty..
:)
I always love to see hamons..

Although you can't tell, I guessed there were hidden pins in the bolster.
Kyle is picking 'em up and putting them down.
Great work by you both.
Wonderful collaboration, shown in all it's glory by Coop, thanks Don !

Fabulous! The original Sinistre is one of my all time favorite DHIII pieces.

such a beautiful knife I love the overall warm look and there is something really cool about doing a collaboration with your son

You guys make a great team. Love the flow to this outstanding piece.
One of those knives where you can tell at a glance would feel like an extension of the arm.
Funny how a subtle design element like the copper can take a knife to a whole new level.
Congrats guys on an outstanding project.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

A first for Kyle, 12" W2 Blade and Damascus Bolsters. Cooper liners and 5460 year old Bog Oak.

This is the evil big sister to the knife 'Sinistre' I made for Coop a few years ago. Coop ask for a 12" knife and I forged a 12" bladed knife. So this one got set aside and Kyle has been eyeballing it for awhile...

He did good! :D

Ummm, I think that would be called "Bankers Error in Customer's favor????"

I'm pretty sure if I asked for a 12 inch knife, and you sent me a picture of one you had forged with a 12 inch blade I would just smile, and say "exactly what I was looking for!"

^^^ Not so. I had a specific design in mind and Don fulfilled it BEYOND my expectations. OAL length @ 12" was juuuuuuust right.

Both siblings in the immediate family, you can tell who's the girl and who's the boy. ;) Both doing what they do best.

^^^ I agree Coop, when you have a specific design in mind it's hard to swallow something different.
I ordered a set of matched custom dueling bowies years ago, even gave the makers a design drawing complete with dimensions. Imagine my surprise when completed and one was 5/8" longer than the other.

You would be really surprised if you were the duelist who was handed the shorter one, right? :D

That does look fantastic!

That would be a bummer! Especially in a matched set!

Jim,
THANK YOU for Sharing Your Photo of Sinistre.
I took out the tape measure and expanded the photo to the correct size to get the full effect.
With your specific design, Juuuuuuust right is JUUUUUUUUST RIGHT. ( I added one more U ).
Both Knives Compliment Each Other Just As Their Creators Do.
