Does anyone at Spyderville have an update on the Kysa raffle? How much have we raised for her so far, and when does the raffle end again? How about an update on Kysa's condition?

Thanks,
Chad

What are you doing? Get your hands off my knife, sizzle chest!

There's a thread going in Community Center for updates on Kysa's condition. According to her friend Leslie's updates on Kysa's web site, she hasn't gotten any better. Apparently, she has a brain tumor diagnosed as Grade II Choroid Plexus Papilloma.

Thanks, Ewok, I'll check that thread out. It's really a shame to hear of her misfortune; it's very saddening. Now, how about Spyderco's update on the money we've raised so far...

Wow, I just got done reading the Kysa update in the Community Forum. Sounds like some type of scandalous feeling is being attached to the Kysa ordeal. What will become of the Spyder raffle, then?

I called Spyderco before sending in my raffle check, and mentioned some of the discussions (which I'd rather not continuue here), and was told that if Spyderco management conclude that it would be inappropriate or impractical for any reason to spend the money on Kysa's case, then it will go to a medical charity - such as the Denver Children's Hospital, so our contributions will count as a good deed no matter what.

Thanks, James. I feel that contributing the money raised to a children's hospital would be a great alternative if the Kysa idea gets nixed.

Hi there.

As James said, if for some reason the money that has been raised does not go to Kysa then we have a back up plan to send it to Children's Hospital.

As for how much has been raised, I have not had the opportunity to count it since last week and in the meantime, I have added quite a few entries. I will post an update by tomorrow morning.

At the risk of sounding callous, despite some feelings of uneasiness about this whole situation, the chance to win a Spyderco for only 3 bucks and to still have the money go to a good cause, regardless of which one is still a good thing.

Well, I wouldn't mind if Spyderco had an annual raffle in order to raise money for local charities! I would participate...

Not a bad idea Chad. I like it!

Great Idea!! As James Mattis said on his web site, Why not start out your ownership of a new sharp object with a good deed!! A good karma!!
