KZ, TTKZ, or KZII?

Test team handle with a KZ II blade would be about perfect.

The TT with a thinned out blade would be pretty cool

Dave has it spot on ... the KZII blade profile and the TTKZ handle would be perfect ... the handy thing with my Nuclear TTKZ is that this was done after this sort of feedback had come in and Garth did mine as a flat grind Nuke TTKZ with a double cut bead blasted finish with the edge sharpened as opposed to the whole side of the blade being fully convex ... this made the profile thinner ... a bit like a VLD rifle bullet compared to a normal match bullet ... the thinner profile enables the blade to bite deeper with less resistance ... so despite losing weight in the blade from the serrations it chops as deep as my modified TTKZ and my modified KZII ...

Generally when a model is a small run type thing, or a model thats gone out of production there are 3 places you can get them
-Secondary market (like the exchange here on bladeforums)
-At shows like Blade East, Blade West, Knob Creek, or Shot
-During Ganza's (post show internet sales)

You could call the shop and ask if they have any that you could purchase, or if they would be willing to make you one from scratch (though that may cost a lot more then buying one on the secondary market).

I know liu Kang has them. They're like 1600 or so. You could always buy 3 CG KZ II's instead :D but not going to lie the nuclear KZ is one bad mamma jamma!

Original offer price on the TTKZ was 797, current show price is 697. If you are willing to wait and look around, theres no reason you should pay above 800$ unless you really want it now, want a particular version a dealer has, or have enough spare cash for the convenience charge.

@ Gr80Cakes - maybe see if someone can proxy for you at blade...?

Yes, I believe you can order a Nuclear TTKZ from the Custom Shop and the price from the post I read in Trail Wolf's pricing thread is the same as that at the shows.

There is the option of waiting for blade and a proxy ... there should be some custom shop pieces done for the show but whether the Nuclear TTKZ are being done may be worth an e-mail to Garth ? ... Blade is a bit of a frenzy style of table ... where the Infi gets shown and the Hogs stampede to grab it ... whereas Knob Creek has an evening before viewing and you know what is there before the doors open and it then works on first come when they open ... but the Nuclear Zilla's are not likely to move that quickly as they are expensive items ... so whichever show your thinking of a proxy could well help you with one of those.

If for instance you wanted a special order such as a flat ground blade with the edge convexed ... as opposed to the normal which is a fully convexed grind then an e-mail to Garth might serve you best.

The helpful thing with a proxy is that the guys at a show may accept the payment on your card so long as the proxy is there for the knife.

Good Luck on what you choose. The prices were $1597 or there abouts.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys! What shows are coming up, and when and where are they (so I can start preparing money wise)?

How does the Proxying work usually? Does the proxy buy it, me having paid them in advance, or like you mentioned, how likely is it Busse will accept my card as payment? Also, do you physically get the blades at the show, or does Busse just take orders there an ship them to you later?

Blade Show is in a the beginning of June and coming up!

I've only had one proxy help me out so my experience is limited - I had him buy the knife from the show then I paid him via paypal after and he mailed it to me...

Great pics and info, LVC!

I prefer the KZ-II b/c the handle gives you many more options. I really don't understand the Nuclear KZ as battoning is out of the picture.
It certainly looks great (Nuclear), but I just don't get the function...

I don't know if this helps or not, but here is a 5 minute mspaint explanation

I've never had a nuclear knife large enough to try this, so I can't comment on it's effectiveness, only the idea behind it.

Great explanation LVC ...

For those who want to understand this technique and who have'nt got a nuclear zilla, take a simple axe and when splitting logs hit the axe into the log ( assuming you have a stump or at least another log to hand ) then with the axe embedded turn the axe and log around so the axe is inverted with the log above it and then swing and hit the axe onto the stump so the head of the axe makes contact ... see how easy it is to split the log rather than try to hit the stump with the log and the axe above it.... this latter technique is hard to do right as the base of the log usually hits the stump on an angle ... where as when you hit the head of the axe onto the stump with the log above it is easier for the axe head to bite much deeper into the initial cut and if the grain is properly aligned for the initial hit ... the log usually splits in half straight away ...

Finally on a seperate point ... those who seem to think that if a knife has a sharpened spine ... whether nuclear serrations or just a sharpened clip ... that you cannot baton effectively ... it's simply not true ... the only issue is that you take a few chunks out of the baton ... but if your preparing a fire ... a baton with a few cuts in it burns as well as one without ... and if the baton breaks ... simply find another ... the amount of wood needed to burn a fire for the night will have multiple potential batons ...

That leaves the plus side of the sharpened clip or nuclear serrations as just that ... plus points which make the knife better and more versatile ...
