L-21 Too Big for Summer Carry?

I carry both the large and small. With their narrow profile they ride great, and I can't tell all that much difference between the two. The large is heavier of course, but not as much as it looks like when you look at them beside each other. By looking you would think the large would be much more heavy.

I recently picked up a small Insingo, and feel I'll be carrying it a whole lot. The straighter edge makes it seem like a larger blade than it is. Can't believe I waited so long to try one.

For years I carried a large and small micarta classic. Both were overkill. Now, I carry slipjoints, and the large is overkill, but I like carrying a single blade slipjoint, SAK and a one handed opener. I've gotten rid of most of my one handed openers, and only have a large micarta 21, a large micarta Insingo and two Benchmades (710 and 53). I had two Umnumzaans before, and plan on getting an Umnumzaan in a couple weeks in a trade. The large Insingo, large 21/25/classic/regular etc and Umnumzaan are all oversized for the average knife nut. But I've got big paws. Go for a large Insingo and a small 21. Or an Inkosi and an Umnumzaan.

I've had maybe two or three dozen Chris Reeve folding and fixed blade knives. Now I've only got two. S35VN large 21 micarta, and S35VN large Insingo micarta, once you get to this level of semi production knives it's not about utility anymore. It's like a nice watch. I like the Mnandi, but it's too small for my fudge fingers with neuropathy to operate. I also have slipjoints that size. The small Insingo? Nah, not for me, I've checked them out. A small and large classic or regular with desert ironwood scales is on my want list. Same as a large and small graphic native totem Sebenza, mainly for my Blackfoot heritage.

I would say depends on what use you may have for it. And as what most people here say, this question is really on each persons preference. As for myself, I mainly carry a Small and or a Mnandi for EDC.

I do have some Large Serbenzas and an Umnumzaan, but I never carry them as EDC knives. I'd probably grab them for any outdoor activities though.
