Here is my ebay stand. I have since made it smaller. I also only use two 100 watt soft light bulbs and a tripod and shutter release with my Minolta Dimage 5 digital camera. I am happy with my results. I did the "right" thing with the light diffusion sheet and tons of lights. But I have much better results with very few lights and a release. Setting my white balance is a must.
Most product photographers use clear plex-glass table and back with translucent material under them with lights shining through.
Here are pics of my stand and a sample coin picture. I can do better but this is all I have handy. The last two pictures are borrowed from the digital imaging forum I visit on the metal detecting site I go to. And a link to the forum. They are done with the plexi.

These are borrowed from the forum from guys that made their own stands. I haven't purchased any plexi yet but will soon.
