I am driving from Phoenix to orange county this weekend. I will have some time on my hands this afternoon in LA / OC, and am wondering if there are any knife shops in the orange county/South LA area that are worth visiting. Any input from people who know about the area would be greatly appreciated.

Big plus for Plaza Cutlery. Outstanding selection and great people. One of the top knife stores in the United States.

Dan at Plaza Cutlery is tops. You might also stop in Orange at The Village at Orange and visit The Knife Gallery.

Check out Recon 1 in Tarzana. They're a little on the small side, but there's some really great knives in there. They carry nearly the entire product lines for BM, ZT, spyderco, and have lots of CRKs, striders, microtechs, and hinderers as well. They also have a nice collection of customs, as well as a good selection of fixed blades from all the major companies. And the guy I talked to in there was very helpful and knowledgable. Great place to visit if you have a chance:thumbup:

Ross Cutlery in downtown Los Angeles and Plaza Cutlery in Orange County -- both are highly recommended. The former is owned by the father of ProTech's CEO, and the latter is owned by the people who put on the California Custom Knife Show. Awesome stores, awesome people.

Another vote for Plaza. Its probably one of the best ones in SoCal.

Plaza Cutlery at South Coast Plaza and Grommet's Cutlery at Moreno Valley Mall.
