I blame some of you folks for my lust after Ray Laconico's knives. I'm slowly but surely checking off my list of "blades I simply must have" and since Ray was accepting orders about a month ago, I pulled the trigger on one of my very own.

Here are the in progress pics Ray sent me:

Shaped 1/8" O1 steel blank with a 4" blade

Ziricote scales glued in place (it's related to Bocote)

:D

Ray is making a leather sheath for it and soon it'll be mine!

Thanks guys! I know I'll love it.

Ziricote is a hard exotic wood that is along the lines of a rosewood or ebony in density. It's not very porous and finishes to a beautiful satin finish. I love the inky black lines that run through the wood. Really nice stuff that I thought would be perfect for a knife like Ray's. Classy but tough.

It's great to see the progression on the knife from blank to working, finished, blade. Thanks for sharing this!

Ray does some great work indeed:thumbup: Thae handle on this one looks perfect.

Nick:)

Looks like a great blade! His knives are definitely on my to get list.

Congrats on the Laconico

Thanks to PB Wilson for posting these pics and thanks guys for the comments:thumbup:. I finished the sheath today and wanted to add these shots. The sheath rides a little lower than usual with the butt of the handle level with the top of the belt. Hope you like it..:)
