I forged this ladder pattern billet (one of my favorites) a few weeks ago and finished this knife yesterday
Heat treated in my shop to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain throughout the blade
Flat grind with a tapered tang
Stabilized whisky barrel oak handle
Overall length: 8 inches
Blade: 3 3/4 inches
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry

Gerry, unless my brain ain't workin' this morning, you're saying the handle is only 3¼ inches? (8 - 4¾ = 3¼)
The proportions don't match up in the photos.
