Lahar thumbstuds?

Before I go at these with hammer and tongs, does anyone know how to remove them properly? I want to do a Krein-like regrind of the blade to remove the recurve. Help?

I'm sure they are pressed in. Thom once posted "how to" with pics. He used C clamp and a box-end hand wrench. put the wrench over one side of stud and use the clamp to "press" out the stud. Reverse to reinstall.
