Lahar

I must be missing something or maybe somethings? Why is blade centering important? Obviously if the blade is scraping against the liners or so out of true that it doesn't lock or un-lock easily or reliably - that's a functional problem - but I've owned folders that were noticeably off center when closed that worked perfectly .
So why is this important?

Two reasons:

Scraping the liner or the lock isnt engaging where you want it to...changing the center can affect both.

Cause its new and should be centered at least for aesthetic purposes. Shows a quality of build and just being right. keepem sharp

If it was centered, and now the blade centering is off than much, chances are the pivot is too loose.

In my experience so far with new manual flippers, flipping them open the way I expect them too has had more to do with my technique than the pivot tension. When I first got my Lahar, I thought that the pivot was too tight, turned out that my technique just sucked. Once I practiced with it a bit, I understood how to preload it properly and really get it to pop open consistently.

I went out and bought a torx set and still no luck with that one screw that is obviously so loctited in it will never budge. Blade still isn't centered but screw it. It ain't hitting the liner so I'll leave it. keepem sharp

Have you tried applying heat to the stuck screw? I've had a lot of luck with the tip of a soldering iron. Should soften up the blue loctite pretty easily.

The head on it is so buggered up now it ain't coming out. Hey I really like this knife, probably my first Kershaw that I will actually carry and use outside of my Skyline that I carry at work. I don't see how they can sell them for the price they are selling them for but outside of the off centered blade and the screw the knife is excellant. So much so that I can overlook these little foibles and still like it as much as I do. keepem sharp

PS thought about the heat thing but no real way to apply it right to that one spot.

if you are unable to rectify the situation. please contact kershaw and ask for morgan. they will make it right.

I read on here one time about using super-glue on the end of the torx bit and having some luck with it. (i have never done this) credit goes to Robbie R. from the SOG sub-forum.
