Laminated kukri

Claudio,

Very nice job on the kukri. I love the rounded spine and traditional leaf shape to the blade. Nice point too.

The handle is absolutely beautiful! I like the way you blended the forefinger notch right up to the metal making a sort of guard so the hand cannot go forward. You also did something that escapes the modern kami, you canted the back of the handle down and lessened the flare at the top while keeping the whole flare at the bottom. This does two things, the bottom flare stops the kukri from wanting to come out of your hand when you swing and the smaller flare canting away on top stops the butt from digging into the back of your palm. You see this in the old military kukri but it takes more work and thought, and is missing in most of them today.

Interesting choice for the steels and I love the wave mark on the blade. Can you give any other specs such as weight, thickness at spine and tip and belly debth?

Oh yeah, the sheath is fantastic too!

First rate job!

Hi Bill, thanks for your understanding and for taking the time to write.
The plate thickness is 6 mm, I regret that I can not say the weight, but the collector who bought the knife gave me time to have it in my possession any longer, just long enough tube to take pictures. Surely tell us what your weight.
As you said, based on the original format and apply my style to the piece.
A greeting and thank you very much.
Claudio

Stunning. Best Kuk I have ever seen. Knockout sheath. You have shot to the top of my list of great South American smiths with this one.

More please!
