laminated leather handles

im thinking about doing a couple knives in leather handles, or partial leather handles, some with stag and some wood. wondering if there are any tricks i should know about. also what glue do you prefer, im assuming epoxy is the standard. should i really soak the leather so it will buff out nice. thanks all.
