I had today off, so I went for a walk in one of SE Queenslands many national parks. Lamington is mostly rainforest, although it dries out towards the edges.

Some shots of the forest:

A snake - if I get bored later I might try to find out what it is:

Goanna - This one was about one metre long, which is mid sized:

Everyone else posts pics of their knives in action, so when this palm leaf was blocking the way I figured I'd cut it out the way:

I got this far, lost interest and just walked over it. Action will have to wait for another day

Anyway, now ive finally got a camera i'll make to sure to post more of the things I get upto. A bark river Northstar is inbound anytime now, so i got some off track walking to do.

Cheers

Excellent. I think Australia is shockingly under-represented here given the scale and majesty of the place, and it's neat to see a very different type of terrain.

Great pictures and lovely scenery. Maybe Doc Canada will chime in with the kinds of things you could make with the palm after turning it into cordage.

Beautiful scenery! Thank you for sharing:thumbup:

Wow, beautiful area! It's a dream of mine to get to Australia some time in my life.

Great pics, I'm so jealous of you seeing the Goanna, I nearly bought one when I was a kid and then realised just how big they got !!!

Nice pics mate. I haven't been to Lamington for ages. Can't wait to get down there again. There are some great National parks and bush areas in SE Queensland..
