Lancer and Deuce users?

I know this pattern has been around a long time. Personally I like it. I am curious about a typical user profile though. Any thoughts or ideas?

Rick, probably not many users as most here are dedicated knife carriers and want a more substantial knife. I own a Buck 305 Lancer and have never even thought about carrying it; as I sit here and ponder the idea I can't really come up with a use for it (except as a tiny back-up to my using knife). Just my thoughts. OH

I gave a Deuce to my Brother in law. It was what he wanted to pocket carry, and he is a big guy. I carried a Buck Toothpick until I got my Apex.

I know a retired scientist who has carried one for years. He told me he found it in an airport many years ago.
He is the stereotypical scientist , grey hair thick glasses the whole nine yards, but he always has his Buck with him.
He belongs to my hunting camp and carries an Uncle Henry Golden Spike to clean deer with.

Thank you. Someone buys them. Besides me. I am 57. The world is different. I don't NEED a pocket knife but carry a Solo and Deuce because I wish.

Only my opinion and not to insult anyone. A lancer is all the knife a person NEEDS for most jobs. Fortunately we live in an age in which we can afford, for the most part, what we want. Me personally I would want a little bigger knife so my fat fingers don't get in the way. For blades that short I would want something a little wider from side to side and a little thicker from cutting edge to spine. I do really like the 301.

I noticed, RickT57, that you are 57, I'm 58. This may seem strange but the older I get the smaller my choice in knife gets. At the moment I'm enjoying the 303 Cadet and other knives about the same size. For thousands of years the American Aborigines, some would call them Native Americans, got along just fine with a piece of obsidian about two or three inches long by about an inch and a half tall by about half an inch wide. I should also say that I'm more of a knife user than a knife collector.

You are correct about the age. Also last December I suffered a lovely stroke and cannot work til I heal further. Even when I did work I used a razor blade box cutter and good kitchen knives.(restaurant manager), a bigger pocket knife was never needed.
Also I am tall and lean with lean fingers.
Rick

Off Topic Please please all you men and women. GET A CAT SCAN! It is cheap anti stroke insurance. At age 57 I'm learning to walk and speak again. Stroke victims seldom heal 100 percent.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program

Ty. Just get all the adults you know to a CatScan. 6 months loss wages and bills are over $300,000 for 6 months to date.

Now back to knives and such

I have a Lancer (valox) and use it several times a week for envelopes, boxes, fruit (a little small for it, but its so easy to clean) and most of all making bow strings. Great knife and tool.

I have carried a 305 Lancer for years & years and used it often for various light cutting chores. It may not be my favorite Buck, but it is my most used Buck. I also often carry either a 301 or a 307 on my belt if I need a heavier duty knife, but the Buck "pocket" knife I actually carry in my pocket most often is the Lancer. Second most carried Buck in my pockets would be the Lancer's slightly larger brother, the 309 Companion. Both fit in my watch pocket nicely, and therefore both are oft-carried. Personally I think the 309 Companion is the perfect sized "pocket" knife because it's not too big, nor too little.

BTW: Both the 305 & 309 are Buck's version(s) of the "equal ended pen knife" frame.

I work in an office setting and the Lancer is what I carry now. Carried much bigger when I was in the service (and usually several since the ACU's had pockets all over them which I "needed" to fill :-)
Now, I don't want a pocket clip to upset the sheeple nor to wear out the pocket of my slacks, so the Lancer does me well.

Lancer does my daily small tasks fine (mostly picking finger nails in the back of a meeting it seems).

Then, when in jeans I'm back to my Vantage most of the time.

So far the users are just normal urban folks like me. Although the word 'sheeple' is questionable. At a recent gun and knife show a guy had an Uzi strapped to his back.

In a restaurant I managed a young female server had 6 knives clipped to her apron.

Lots of guys I see with clips exposed 'strut' like some TV gun fighter. This is all so.
