Adding to what I said above: Despite the inconvenience, and any reticence we might have about stirring things up, this lack of quality control should not be tolerated. It is reasonable for, and incumbent upon, each of us to let the manufacturers know. The more conscientious we all are about doing this, the sooner improvements in quality will occur.

If we don't make a stink about the lack of quality, they have no incentive to improve.

Luckily my LC in Chestnut bone came out near perfect. There were issues, but compared to the $100 + knives I've gotten lately, there IS a significant difference in attention to detail, and quality. I, for one, feel I got my money's worth.
