It's pretty sharp, Mitch. I worked on that edge a little (not that it needed much, but you know how it is)...

I don't have a Lanny's Clip but I can tell you right now this is gonna be a great thread!

+1

Apologies if this has been beat to death elsewhere, but can anyone tell me (or post a reference to) how this pattern got its name? Thanks! ;)

As far as I know, Tony Bose had a friend named Lanny who wanted a knife made a certain way and Tony designed it for him.

Well...if I must

Kerry's Lanny's Clip #3 and Kerry's one and only Tennessee Jack (although I hear he as orders for them now)

Campbell, is the Tennessee Jack basically a Lanny's Clip with a cap, slightly different bottom pin placement and secondary wharncliffe blade?

(Hopefully this isn't too off-topic.)

I don't have an LC. Enjoy looking at the pics here and I may have to remedy my situation at some point.

Yep. Pin you see at the bottom is there to hold the stag. Pin through the spring is within the cap. Secondary took some work to figure out (Kerry doing most of the work obviously). It got Tony's stamp of approval, although at first none of them (Bose fellas and EVEN KERRY) thought the pattern would work. Reese had done a couple of them prior to Kerry. Lucky for me, I'm stubborn. I consider it one of my top 3 knives.

Correct. Met him at Blade a couple times.

I'm starting to like the pattern, the 3 3/4" size is also my favourite for edc knives
great examples here guys!

Why didn't they think it would work? In theory it shouldn't be any different than a resized trapper, then again I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

It's a great knife.

It's a great knife.

Thought the secondary would be uncomfortable in the hand when the master blade was open

Had this Mammoth scaled Bose up until a few years ago. Sorry for the crummy photo. The knife looks much better in the flesh.
I bought this piece from Lanny.
