Is there a way to fine tune the angle on a Lansky,or are stuck with just the main angles that they give you.
Say the main angles are 15 and 25 but I want the angle on my knife to be 20.
Thanks

If you're a real big nerd, you can calculate the angles based on the height of the angle hole and the length from the angle selection hole extension to the edge and then adjust the distance a little bit.

The main angles are wrong though. The 25-degree slot is about 21 degrees, and the 20-degree slot is about 15 degrees. This is assuming you leave a half inch of the blade sticking out from the clamp.

Happy sharpening.

Comrade, it's good to see you back. How is the gun thing going? Glad you are back.

I didn't know the markings on Lanskys were wrong, makes me glad I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker.

Sorry, I guess I didnt phrase that question right. I want to be able to adjust it by eye to the angle thats already on the knife.
Is that possible with the Lansky?

When using the Lansky sharpener, I use the least angle I can get away with and not scratch the side of the blade. Usually, the 20 degree slot.

Try the "magic marker" method, if the angle is not "wildly off" you can change the protruding part of the blade to adjust the angle.
Happy sharpening
