Lansky Crock Sticks..

Hope I helped! I also hope I know what the heck I am talking about! :D

How does the croc set compare to the sharpmaker?
One of the fellows over at gpknives recommended the lansky turn-box sets (under $10) as a field use unit, as I already have the sharpmaker but wanted something to take while hiking/backpacking.

Any recommendations?

Btw, just ordered a Buck 119 Special from them, my first Buck - back (3 wks ago!) when I bought my first knife, BM Mini-grip 556blu, I never thought I'd be getting a fixed blade. I found out about BF from CPF, and thought, "flashlights, i can understand - they're useful day to day! but knives?? i just need one!" yeah, right. now i have a queen cocobolo copperhead and a RSK on the way too. Anyway, was wondering your thoughts on the Buck 119, and how the (not as nice as my other knives?) 420 steel will hold up, under light or heavy use, and to sharpening...

thanks guys!!

I Love mine!!!! (420HC)
Thats all that was around for years! Bucks are great! To me blade steel is all relative. You can pay alot more for BG-42 now and spend less time sharpening OR you can spend less money now and more time sharpening!
Besides my 420HC doesnt get dull that much faster. Doesnt rust either...
As far as the sharpener goes between back to school with the kids and BF I didnt get to try mine yet! Good luck! You will like your 119! I have had buck knives for 18 years with no problems with the blade steel. Never broke one either.

Don't make the mistake of comparing Buck's 420HC with others. The heat treatment that Buck uses makes their 420HC a very good everyday knife steel. A lot of people swear by it because of its ability to take an edge and ease of re-sharpening, which is a good thing if you are in the field and working on your 3rd deer.

By the way, have you taken a look at Buck's custom 110 website? You can get a great folding hunter with all sorts of options for steel type and scale material. :D

Welcome to the Buck forum.

Oh, that is encouraging news to hear, Mike - thanks a lot! That is good info to know. Too bad I've never gone hunting before (would love to!) but glad to know it would serve well in that regard, if the need should ever arise =)

It's funny, around here (northern ca.) ppl call anything that looks like a bowie a 'buck knife.' and now i'm finally getting one. I guess I'll be frequenting this forum more often!

Btw, the 110 looks very nice, in a classic sort of way. I am a bit surprised to see that many of you serious knife enthusiasts use it for in the field tasks - so, though being a folding hunter, Buck still makes it solid enough for good use? I'll have to check out that custom page on their website.

And thanks for the welcome!

Another potential Buck addict in the making. :D :D

Buahaha! =) I laugh now, but perhaps I won't be once I receive the 119. =D

Help.
I looked at Gander's web site and they do not do on-line ordering.
Where can I get the Lansky PRO on-line?
Thanks!
