Greetings,

I am thinking about buying a lansky clamp sharpener for reprofiling, but I have a few questions.

1. Can I use it to sharpen the large and small blades of an sak?

2. What about a spyderco jester?

3. It seems like the clamp might be insecure on full flat grind knives. Is this the case?

4. Can I use the stones without oil like any other ceramic stones?

Thanks

I find the lansky I have good for small blades. For large blades you'll have to move clamp or you will change angles. It will make a knife real sharp but it will take some time for longer blades. I have been looking at the edge pro system. It's alittle more money but it looks faster.Hope this helps......Bigfish

1. Can I use it to sharpen the large and small blades of an sak?

Yes

2. What about a spyderco jester?

I don’t know my guess is yes.

3. It seems like the clamp might be insecure on full flat grind knives. Is this the case?

No, it clamps very well on flat grinds.

4. Can I use the stones without oil like any other ceramic stones?

Sure, they work fine dry.

Thanks

I sharpen everything from my 1/4" tracker to my Sak on my lansky and can get both razor sharp.try different angles and stone combos for the best results.

It will work on a Jester. On full flat grinds, after you clamp up, check to see if the blade moves in the clamp. I try to clamp on a flat spot if there is one. The only knife I had a real problem with was a Buck/Mayo TNT with a full hollow grind.I would suggest you go for the diamond set. The stones will stay flat and give better results.
