Lanterns: What do you use?

UCO candle lantern - I've (carefully) used it in my tent's vestibule to warm up the tent on cold nights

If I'm hiking I carry the UCO lantern for camp, with a small Coast flashlight for when I'm moving.

If it is a car trip, I have an old propane lantern (coleman I think?) that puts out a ton of light. It is noisy though, and pretty awkward.

I use a combination of a headlamp (Princeton Tec EOS) and the 3AA-powered Rock River K2 LED lantern from Target. Great little lantern for a VERY reasonable price. High 16 hrs, Low 35 hrs. It doesn't put out as much light as a Coleman lantern, but it puts out lots more than the candle lanterns. I generally don't need that much light anyway.

Most of my light comes from the headlamp. I primarily hang the lantern from my tent on low to act as a homing beacon when heading into the woods for those late night "trips".

I just went and got a UCO candle lantern and a package of regular and citronella candles. All that for less then $20 from Walmart.

I use an adjustable Led one too, with C batteries. I like it, bright enough, light enough and lasts a long time, and no fuel to worry about.

I have three coleman gas lanterns, two double mantle and one single mantle. All are 30 to forty years old. There is something about the "hiss' they make at night when you are camping that is part of the outdoor experience. I have a small Peak multifuel lantern I use for light camping. For our trailer I have two Coleman rechargeable lanterns and one coleman propane lantern. The rechargeables are great to use when fishing because you don't have to be careful with them or have them level to use them properly. Also the kids can carry them around because they are plastic and safe to use.
