Lanyard for pocket carry?

I had them on my larger SAK folders but when using the tools it did get in the way so I removed them but still have one on my SAK Executive which helps draw it from my pocket.

My clipped folders tend to all have lanyards on there or what I call Bobtail fobs as they are short so I hook around them with my pinky to help draw the knife from my pocket.

And on fixed blade knives it really can help to draw the knife from the sheath too.

Bobtail fobs. Thats the word im looking for. Thats what i use on folders wven whem there clipped to pocket. It is very handy as i find myself just hooking with finger. I habe tried longer ones bit usually anything over a couple inches just gets in the way.

The key to making that work well is the whipped knot near the handle. That aids in keeping the bobtail fob in position as well as keeping it from flopping into the path of the blade when closing.
A simple knot but not many seem to try it, I highly recommend that on any lanyard/fob folks make, some put the knot right next to the handle but that doesn't help when you go to 'catch' the knot to help draw the knife.

Here's one on a beautiful knife made by @john april

I do like @NMpops: a paracord lanyard with a clip on the end for my Huntsman Lite and other SAKs. The lanyard loops around my belt and the knife hangs loose in my front pocket. I can make some cuts without unclipping the knife, and it's a breeze to unclip if needed. It's especially useful with the little LED light on this knife.

Hey Gary I watched your Youtube vid on Diamond knots and I got it the first time but after adding a helicoil I had on my workbench I took me at least 10 tries to and some creative cursing to tie the last one:oops:. Whoever said basket weaving was relaxing must have been crazy Lol. Now I have to practice a bit more and get me some slick looking paracord for the real one. Thanks for linking that vid, Trying it was actually fun

I enjoy attaching a fun matching lanyard/fOB on nearly all my knives.

To me they look cool and I find if easier to pull my knife from my packet.

Badass Beads are especially fun to search for.

Anyway, I’m a lanyard/FOB enthusiast.

The 'trick' if there is any to getting the knots into the correct position is to use a nice pair of needle nose pliers, not too sharp or too pointy, I use the pliers of my Swiss Army Tool that grips the paracord without tearing it up.

Also I see your cords from the knife show twisted, you want to give the one side a couple of twists prior to tying the knot, that will help it to go straighter once you have tied the first diamond knot. Then once you put your bead on there, tie the next knot, use the pliers to start working the knot closer to the bead, so don't pull that second knot too tight right away. It takes a while to work the knot into place but once done, they are snug up against the beads as tight as you can get them.
