Lanyards on your ZT folders or no?

Chester22,

I really like the aftermarket G-10(?)scales you have on your 0550 Gen II. Who makes those? Someone here on the forums? I've seen aftermarket scales from Mr. Hinderer and they're nice but those that you have look sweet as well.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one making or buying lanyards for so many of my folders...it was starting to feel like maybe I had an obsession or something. <grin>

The scale on the ZT0550BLK is carbon fiber by Barry H. .the brown scale is a Hinderer one.

No I don't care for lanyards. I think they detract from the styling and beauty of the knife.

I only have 1 ZT (0561), and it has a lanyard on it. In fact, I like to have a lanyard/fob on all my knives, and I usually only buy knives that have lanyard holes.

I like tip-up carry, using the lanyard/fob to pull the knife from the pocket. Or if it is loose-in-pocket, the lanyard makes it easier to locate (for me, anyway). Even a fob can be a useful retention device to avoid dropping, or to locate, etc. Plus I think they look cool! :D

Not my thing. I could see if you really needed it, as in the field lets say. But most of them seem to be jewelry for the knife. It may not be politically correct of me, but I think they detract from the masculinity of the knife.

I think I got a little carried away. Thinking about using a short cobra length in the other orientation (turned 90 degrees) that only connects to the rear post and not the lanyard hole, with perhaps a flat celtic knot as a tab at the end. I like the idea of giving a tactile clue as to the orientation of the knife, rather than a round or cylindrical lanyard. Maybe an inch to inch-and-a-half?

That's kinda where I'm at, I agree "at times" (depending on the lanyard) they can detract from the "looks" of the folder yet I find them useful in getting some knives out of my pocket. I know for sure that one of the short short lanyards that I bought from the Busse store (which they still made them) prevented me from dropping my Acies a time or two. I'm always on the lookout for nice lanyard designs that I may be able to use on my knives. I'm like some of the CNC'd beads/skulls/helmets that you can buy now to add to the lanyard and it provides not only a bit of style but more to grab onto. I don't like the idea of adding anything to the folder that make sit look less attractive but I use my knives a lot and I have to put usefulness over aesthetics.

I have a hard time getting lanyards to good with my 056X's and 055X's due to the placement of the lanyard hole. Gutted paracord would probably work better.
