Yeah, no doubt a lanyard makes things easier insofar as handling a folder out of the pocket. They can look good too, esp. if you add a bead or something.

I've used paracord and leather. Over time I've zeroed in on rigging Reeve coils in leather as my favorite type overall.

I prefer direct attachment through the lanyard hole, making them myself. I like this direct permanent attachment better than making or buying one with a loop and then attaching by looping back through itself. But that's just me.

A lot of nice add-on, pre-woven lanyards out there if you like them attachable by loop-back method.....one plus is that kind is removeable too if you prefer it that way.

I been doing my own a cobra and a reeves noose knot just did one with a bead pics to come

All about that noose knot! Been perfecting then all summer! Also helpful for adding usable handle length to small folders like my Dragonfly 2!

Another quick add on question for the thread:

For folders, do you use short lanyards that stay in-pocket or do you prefer a "hang-out' that drapes outside the pocket and is visible? Loop or no loop?

The majority of mine are in-pocket but I have a few hang-outs as well for "special' knives.

So, a Reeve coil with loop? Do you bead it as a slip-loop so the loop will disappear when you want, such as when in heavy brush or to prevent snagging on something?

I like a lanyard on a small fixed blade carried in a pocket-sheath. I don't use them on folders, as I seem to get a clipped folder out pretty easily.
I have NEVER tied one...but I do admire nice ones...would like to tie some leather ones...

I like either a loop with a diamond knot (for looping into a longer lanyard at work) or a snake knot lanyard finished with a diamond knot. Once and a while the reeve knot will end up on a folder of mine too. pics to come later.

I don't tie my own lanyards, but I like them. I keep them on all my CRKs and since I clip mine to my front, the lanyard is always out. Makes it easy to grab my knife without looking down.

I wanted to like them but I cant. Especially ones with huge metal beads on them that seem to scratch not only the knife but every surface I lay the knife on. I like the look but I hate almost everything else. Especially since I feel like its a billboard for my pocket.

I use a lot of my own lanyards. I've developed my own style to use on a knife clip. You can take them on and off easily. They hang out of my rear pocket.

A lanyard is a necessity on a wave draw folder.

Well, let's see them. [emoji14]

Without pictures - it didn't happen.

CM, I would agree that lanyards certainly enhance a wave draw but whether or not it's a necessity depends on the reveal of the knife and the slab texture.

For example, the reveal on the extra large Voyager allows for plenty of purchase and while I have been waving Emersons with and without lanyards for so long I don;t even think about it, I would agree a lanyard makes things easier in the initial purchase and draw, especially in the case of small reveal and perhaps smoothed out G10.
