So, a Reeve coil with loop? Do you bead it as a slip-loop so the loop will disappear when you want, such as when in heavy brush or to prevent snagging on something?

Sorry about the radio silence here! I keep my coils really short without any loop or anything. On my dragonfly it's really helpful to extend the handle for certain grips.

Hey Wavester,
I always use 550 paracord. You can find it on pretty much any knife site or at any craft store. As for a video, I used this one:

I thought it was straightforward and gave me a good foundation to start experimenting and playing around.

Have fun!

Just a word of caution about paracord: Read the label carefully. It is easy to find "550 Paracord" that is not mil-spec. I saw some 550 Paracord at a local hardware store that had a breaking strength of only 110 lbs. Mil-spec 550 paracord has at least 550 lbs strength. Of course, for knife lanyards it probably doesn't matter, so I bought some anyway. I found some vendors on amazon.com that supply only the mil-spec stuff, so that what I use for bracelets and such.

It's weird, I enjoy all these pics of knives with lanyards, but personally I can't stand them. Never have and I have tried numerous different times and types of lanyards. I guess it's just not my thing.

I still like to look at all the pics though... ;)

One more vote for lanyards on waved folders, I find it much easier and quicker to draw, gives you quicker re-positioning and more reliable lockup.
I also used to draw as hhmoore but I think it's quicker to slide only your thumb inside the pocket and to grab the lanyard with simple sweeping motion with your pinky and your ring finger,
and when the handle is out of the pocket and blade is locked, my middle and index fingers fall very much where I want them to be.

I also found easier to hook up the lanyard to the clip. I can move it from knife to knife when I'm changing those every couple days,
also it's easy to disassemble the knives without fiddling with lanyards. I clean very often the knives I use in work and some how this hook-up works better for me.

Another thing to mention because I see nobody did it, but I suspect few people here know about it: I'm not against beads at the end of the lanyard at all as you can see from the pictures,
but technically, such setup will give you very painful understanding why the bead have no business there, if you hit hard something with your knife... :D

I know it looks ugly, but the lanyard I got on my Emerson, on the Voyager, and the one on my black handle Griptilian (done by it's previous owner) are the most functional,
also the one that is standing alone on the right site in the top picture, as much as it looks very minimallistic ...

The top knife in is an Emerson CQC-10 converted into an all-Ti framelock.

The Vader bead is from a friend of mine from the Philippines. He also made the Ironman, Storm Trooper, and Boba Fett ones.

I like a lanyard on a small fixed blade carried in a pocket-sheath. I don't use them on folders, as I seem to get a clipped folder out pretty easily.
I have NEVER tied one...but I do admire nice ones...would like to tie some leather ones...

Wow, I really like the dangler pocket sheath idea. I've done pocket and belt sheaths, but always went back to a folder. Will have to try one of these as I would really prefer to use a fixed blade at work.
