I am looking for a bushcraft knife and I was Looking at the Lappin Puukkos (i don't know which model) and I was wondering if they would work well for bushcraft. Are there other, non-Mora, scandi ground Knives, under or around $100, that would work better?

Oh and since scouts cant use fixed blades are there any quality scandi ground folders out there?

Maybe this is better for General Knife discussion but because i am specifically looking for a bushcraft/camping knife I thought I'd ask here first.

Check out the Enzo Trapper... just traded a good guy from this forum for his and I love it. If you can't find a model already assembled, you should be able to buy some kits with your choice of handle material that look relatively easy to piece together...

Also, several forum members make some very nice bushcraft type scandi ground knives...

Thanks for the suggestion I will deffinately consider it. I just started looking at Kellam wolverine and i think they are more what I am looking for. So what do you others thing Lappin Puukko, Kellam wolverine, or Enzo trapper kit in 01

I have several Kellams but I much prefer my Enzo in 01. WAY easier to sharpen. The only complaint I have had with my Kellam is edge chipping (Honestly only when it has struck something hard) and resharpening. The Kellams are sweet though.....

My Lappin Puukko is probably the least used knife of that type that I own;

I just can't get used to that big flare at the end of the handle.

It does take a good edge though.

I think for the money you're talking about,you could do better with a Helle-Kellam-Ahti-Brusletto...just to name a few.

thanks for all the suggestions. Yep I checked ragweed forge, thats where I found the Lappins. I'll look into the helles

So lets eliminate the lappin and put up a helle of some form
Any suggestions there.

Right now it is looking like the enzo, but I have till June because that is when I have the money to decide.

Riley has a couple of cool helles. The Haromni, Symfoni, and Eggen are particularly popular from all I read.

I hate to be 'that guy', but if you save just a teensy bit more cash you could get a Brian Andrews bushy. Definitely tops in my book.
