Laredo Bowie

So the Laredo will be in 3V. Awesome!

The price, not so awesome. I predict that I will initially balk at the price and poo-poo it as unrealistic. I'll probably be able to hold out for a few months. And then I'll sit around for a while looking at it on the internet and then buy it anyway. All the time I'll be rationalizing it and consoling myself. Ha!
If enough potential buyers sit on the sidelines, then eventually they'll have to lower the price. Figure on waiting six months to a year after it comes out for the price to drop, if it does drop.

I could be mistaken but haven't direct-from-Cold Steel prices always been significantly higher than what they would be at from dealers? I seem to recall this being the case.

I am certainly looking forward to 3v versions of the Trailmaster and Recon Scout. If the price and availability is right for the Laredo and Natchez, I'd be interested in those as well.
It used to be that CS street prices were only about half the MSRP. Then, with MAP pricing, they made advertised street prices 85% of MSRP. Now, I hear the MAP price will be 80% of MSRP. You might still be able to find unadvertised sales or dealers that work outside of MAP who have street prices lower than the MAP price.

I have an old SK5 version that I've used a bit and it's great. My only issue with it is that I think the handle is a bit too fat.

Maybe the new ones will be in legitimate steel. I see that they are also offering the Natchez again. I'll pick one up if they bother to make it correctly.
The handle on the Natchez is a bit thicker than that of the Laredo. At least when they changed to micarta from the faux cocobolo previously used. You mention interest in a Natchez "if they bother to make it correctly". I'm curious what do you consider to be made correctly? It's a sturdy knife.

Hmmmm. I guess I will have to try to handle a Natchez and compare. The thickness on the Laredo is OK, but the width is a little much.

My "if they bother to make it correctly" comment was referring to Cold Steel's recent fascination with steels that are less than stellar choices. I really hope they don't begin using substandard steel on otherwise solid designs.

NATCHEZ BOWIE (CPM 3V) | Cold Steel Knives
3V is the promised steel on the 2021 Natchez, Laredo, Trail Master, etc. When they will actually be available is anybody's guess. You can click on the image to enlarge and see the swell at the end of the handle. They were slimmer on the models with the faux cocobolo. The micarta handles are more substantial but feel fine to me.
