Large budget folder

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Essee avispa. I really like my Rat 1 for outdoors, but the avispa (though it feels the same weight) is slimmer for EDC. Get both :D.

Hi all!

My friend asked me today to recommend him a larger folding knife for under $50.
He carries a CRKT M21 tanto now and he would like a blade similar in size.
Uses could include anything and everything.

Fire away!

The Cold Steel Recon 1 (4" blade) can be had at a special price of $41 right now. The Mini Recon 1 (3" blade) is special priced at $31 or so. The Voyagers start at $27.

DocT, would you send me a private message through the forum and tell me where you saw a 4" Cold Steel Recon for $41? I have been looking at those for a while, but didn't want to spend the bucks for one!

Thanks -

Robert

CS large Voyager. Decent steel in full flat grind, bullet-proof lock and fairly light.

Well, here's another vote for the Kershaw Tremor. Here's mine that I've had for 2 years now as my only EDC next to my Becker Bk10.

The Rat 1 is a great knife, but I recommend the Cold Steel Large Voyager over it. The steel is essentially the same, but the Voyager has better texturing, bigger thumb studs and a stronger lock for just a few dollars more. But if you can get a Recon 1 on sale, as a previous poster mentioned, then I'd get it over the Rat 1 and the Voyager. It's one of my favorite knives. It's tough, it's relatively thin and the ergonomics are outstanding.
