Large but Cheap EDC's?

Hey guys,

I've done a bunch of searching around the website looking for some threads recommending large EDC's in the $100 or less range but almost everything I came across were from guys who had $400+ budgets to work with so most of the stuff suggested just doesn't work for me.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Here's some guidelines:

- 4"+
- G10 handles preferably
- Has a decent pocket clip.

Thanks!

I would try to find a Zero Tolerance 0350 series on eBay auctions and see if you can't snag one for less than $100(shouldn't be hard, at all).

I know it's not 4 inches, but the sheer reliability and tank-like nature of the knife at that price is quality you can't beat.

But if you insist on 4 inches of blade, I believe the Cold Steel Recon 1 would match your criteria perfectly.

I would personally go after the ZT 0350 myself. The line itself is tested for hard use, you get an upgraded steel blade, beefier handles, and a "cool" AO flipper action(which you can play around with if you're bored).

Rather than just the blade length, I would also consider the shape and ergonomics of what you're buying. That said, a Paramilitary 2 might be stretching it, but it would be well worth it.

spyderco police 3

spyderco military

shop around, while the msrp may seem high on their website, many places online sell them for well below msrp.

Spyderco Police 3.

Just got mine yesterday, and I am surprised/impressed by its size.

Can be had for around 120, shipped.

He wanted something less than $100. Buck Vantage Pro 347 should fit the bill. A little shorter 3.5" blade, S30V, nicely contoured polished G10, deep carry clip, and BOS heat treat. All can be had in less than $50, and MADE IN USA!

Cold Steel Recon 1 for around $62 would fit your criteria. :)

I think Cold Steel pretty much has it covered regarding large folders at this price point. I'm thinking recon, the old voyager series, vaquero grande, Spartan, Rajah 2, even the large Ti-Lites, or old scimitars. If your willing to go under 4", there are some good options from other brands. Spyderco Manix2, Kershaw Junkyard Dog, Buck/Tops CSAR-T, Boker Mini Resurrection, Cold Steel Ak-47.

The American Lawman too , dont forget this beast of a knife. :D

Since I got mine some three weeks ago it has not left my pocket , pushing out even my beloved Ti JYDII in favor.

CS AL or R1 can be had well under a hundred , leaving dough for cookies and a dvd. :p

There are a few CS knives that would fit your criteria & be well under $100. If blade steel is of more importance, then I'd suggest a Spyderco Endura. The blade's 3.75" (Close to your 4" criteria) & VG-10's a step-up vs AUS-8. I'm not saying AUS-8 isn't any good, it is, but that VG-10 is better in the edge holding department.

Having said all that, CS's Recon (Old or new model), their Voyager series, & others would work just fine.

There new large M.U.K for a 100.00. I have a Necessary Necker , which is a smaller version, and love it. Probably the best 100.00 you could spend. If I was not about to by a new pinpointer(Metal Detecting, my other hobby) I would have ordered one already tim
