Large but Cheap EDC's?

How about a Tops / Buck CSAR. 3.5'' blade so not quite the 4'' you want. But, it does not feel small.

i would say the spyderco resilience it is exactly the same as the tenacious but it has a 4.25 inch blade (i think). it has g10 handle scales as well. i am not sure how much it is but it is probably in the $40-$50 range. you could even get a delica or endura as well and it would be around $100 total.

The Al Mar Eagle Ultralight is a very well designed large EDC knife. It is not a tank of a knife, but more of a high-speed jet.

It has a 4" AUS8 steel blade, a nice pocket clip, and two smooth linen-micarta handle scales [without steel liners].

It weighs less than 2.5 ounces.

The fit and finish is tops.

If you are ok with Buck, Case, or Boker you might find a knife you like. Many in the knife net world love the custom knives only. Some of us like them both. There are good deals on the web and in stores.Walmart has a Buck 110 that is under $29.00.The 110 has been going strong since 1964.

Another vote for the Cold Steel Recon 1. And you can buy a Tenacious with the $35 you have left over.

CS Recon 1 (2010 flavor), bottom.

May have already been mentioned, but Spyderco is supposed to be coming out(or maybe they already did) with a larger version of the Tenacious/Persistence line. IIRC, it should top 4".
