Just got another large micarta Calypso and have to say that I've missed this knife, when Steve had it for sale, not that he wanted to move it, he just needed cash for some belts, I jumped on the post and glad I did.
This knife has one of the most comfortable handles I've held, thick enough to fill the hand and contoured to fit nicely. The blade opens with an pronounced Snap and no blade wobble to be seen anywhere.
When I got this knife it needed a little touch up and that didn't take too long and is now hair popping sharp, that VG10 can really take an edge.
The blade is flat ground, plain edged and you can choke up on the handle enough to work using the very tip of the 4" blade.

I had, in a moment of weakness, traded my older one to a fellow formite, actually had two at the time and Chiro has one and LarryLuana has the other. Since these are no longer in production I think I'll be hanging onto this one and carry it everyday.

Last week I didn't have a Spyderco, and this week......lets see;

Large Calypso, plain edge, VG10
Jess Horn, plain edge, jigged bone handle, ATS-34, (this is the pretty one!)
Civilian, serrated, old style with aluminum handles (actually this is on it's way to me)
Moki, Sal had said that they made the one I have, here is a pic of it, got it via Mike Turber on eBay.

Mike had it listed as having ATS-34, Sal do you know this to be fact?

So, everyone list what Spydercos you own....currently own that is.

Thanks again Sal!

You need to get a Lg. Calypso.
I hedged and hawed for months about getting one and now that I have one, I'm glad to have it.
It is a great dress up folder, that is, when I'm not using it to prune my plants.
The thin edge on this VG-10 blade is a really great grafting and pruning knife. It takes an amazingly fine edge that slices thru plant material with authority and ease. I love this knife, man!

It boggles my mind when I think of all the ones I've sold or traded; large Wegner, Calypso Jr, Endura, Military, Police etc.
I don't think I'm going to do any more selling or trading of Spydercos, just adding ! I especially am looking forward to getting a Calypso Jr lightweight, large Dyad and Lum Chinese Folder.

Ferret, that is an impressive list!
Plain edged Civilian, envious! I have finally took the plunge and have an old style Civilian on the way, can't wait, got it just for the cool factor!

And you have the C27, that's the jigged bone handled one isn't it? Do you find that you can't bring yourself to use it? That's the position I find myself in, and it's the one knife that I named, ~Ricky~, don't know why, it just looks like a Ricky to me.

Thanks for the warning, I'll be on the watch, although Moki is starting to work it's way into my brain, James Mattis has some very nice Moki's on his page and some VG10 small fixed blades that might end up on a truck heading to my house!

Brian, you've a bunch as well! Spyderco certainly does well when it comes to knives, I also have most of the ceramics they offer, one I really need to get is the Galley series? the long oval shaped ones, got to find someone that carrys that one and get it ordered.

Wahoo! My first Spyderco should be here fairly soon. I just ordered a fully-serated Delica from 1-stop knife shop. I've had a $3 look-alike for about two months now, the plastic clip snapped off after two weeks and it rapidly dulled and rusted. It looks almost identical to a real Spyderco, except for an eagle and "made in China" instead of the Spyderco logo and the hole was moved a little and filled with plastic.

jrollins, congrats and welcome to the forums, nice way to start your collection!

Short story, the Delica was my first Spyderco as well, and I bought it straight from Mr. Sal Glesser himself at the Ashokan Seminar a few years back. I remember him sitting there at the table in the lunch hall showing some of his knives and I picked up the Delica and a piece of crumbled paper, the Delica sliced cleanly through all the folded sections with out hesitation, I just grinned and Mr. Glesser just smiled, and I dug out my money and the rest is history!

So take care with that knife, as they come very sharp out of the box!
