I have had this piece of 1/4 inch 1095 in my shop for a couple of years and never wanted to make the effort to grind it down to a knife. It forged nicely. I was able to hammer in my tapers and rough out the shape at the forge to minimize the grinding.

1095 steel
Flat grind
Distal taper and tapered tang
320 grit hand sand finish
Curly walnut handle
Overall length: 10 1/2 inches
Blade: 6 1/8 inches
Riveted leather scabbard

$145 ----SOLD----delivered to the US or Canada. My PayPal account is gldrewknives@yahoo.com I will also take USPS money orders or checks with time to clear.

NIce knife! Thats my favorite I have seen from you. Great sticker!

Wow! I can't prove it, but that beautiful knife was only on the list for 10 minutes when drducati jumped on it, and that has to be close to a record for "Gerry's Jewels"! By the way, I really like the double choil, or scalloped effect of the two-step choil. That sets this knife apart. Also, walnut just seems like the right way to go with this type of knife. Quite a pretty package Gerry! We are glad this piece of steel made it into your forge!

This knife is indeed a jewel. The finish is up to Gerry's usual quality and the balance is superb. A very nice knife.
Gerry , You have graduated into the upper level of the knife realm!:D:D:thumbup:

I've been thinking about the difference in your forged and ground knives and the forged knives have a "live feel" to them the ground blades lack. That is in no way a criticism of the other blades but the forged blades just "feel better " in hand.

I just returned from the ABS symposium at Haywood Community College. A very well known maker picked up my knives and said "your forged knives sing in the hand, your stock removal knives are clubs." I like the way you said it better!

I'm glad to know someone else noticed and it was not just an aberration on my part. Your forged knives are really slick. That's the direction you should take.
