Large chopper recommendations?

At that price point it is almost impossible to beat 1311!

What variety of wood is that there? Looks like the hard "shin oaks" we have down here in Texas... springy little SOB's, really not fun to cut. How well does SR-101 hold its edge compared to INFI? I read about the SR car test... that's incredible.

The NMFBM beats the 1311 for pure chopping but the weight to performance ratio is much better with the 1311. In my experience the 1311 chops at about 80% of what the NMFBM can do at almost half the weight. My NMFBM is a .28 thick custom grind version at about 32 oz. Also SR-101 holds a slightly better edge than INFI but INFI is a little tougher.

A NMFBM will out chop all of them, ask me how I know ;)

The 1311 is a great choice for the economics and those rubber handle are comfy.

The swords are ok choppers.

Don't forget about the Zillas, they chop alright ;)

Well for the price of a MOAB of NMFBM you can get a really good chainsaw, so I vote 1311. Note that MOAB and NMFBM never require fuel, new chains, or bar oil so it may be more affordable in the long haul. That's the agreement I'm going to give the ol' lady.

Would yall say that the 1311 beats even the Basic 11? I watched a youtube video by a certain BF member, he claimed that the Basic-11 had vibration isues... also much more expensive than the 1311. Comments? Input?

Beats it how? If you mean chopping ability, then yes. The 1311 is the only Busse or kin blade that I've used ( dogfather, B11, Gladius, waki, Scrapizashi, BWM, NMFBMLE) that even comes close to rivaling my Zilla

So you're getting a 1311 lol... I was really impressed with how easily it limbed branches. Branches with a diameter of up to 2" with just one, near effortless, swing. And the handles are as light and comfy as they come. Could not think of a better chopper for the price--that's why I bought two:D Get one now, the exchange price has been low lately, but I doubt it will stay <$250 for long...

It took a couple of hours. I did get one little blister.
It is not shaving sharp any more but still pretty sharp, I have not touched it up yet. The picture is after I chopped the log, not sure how well the edge will show up in the picture, but it looks untouched.
