Well, I'm back into the fold and started out in good form ;) with a nice
slightly used mammoth inlaid large Classic Sebbie, while my other camera
is out for calibration, I used my wife's Canon A620 to take a few images
of the knife to share with you folks...

Nice eh? I thought so too...

How many of you guys and gals have the mammoth inlays?

G2

Congrats on yours.
Large is way too large for my hands but it looks great.

Mine is not Sebenza, but a mnandi.
Apologize for the lousy photography.

It has light tan lines on the ivory similar to a wedding dress lace (as Heather @CRK) describes it.

Thanks KCkc and kt, it's a very nice knife, I've owned a lot of Sebenza's
all types, this is my first mammoth ivory one, I've owned other knives with
mammoth, always love having that in hand, a piece of history to share!

That is a beauty!!! My dream sebenza is a small calssic w/ mammoth. Hopefully some day I'll be able to score one of them.

G2 -- welcome back! I have one that is identical to yours. I love it!

P.S. Most excellent photos!

It is so nice! I have been thinking of the same knife for a while. I have never seen aged stabilizes Mammoth. Will it be more yellow during time? If so, it really looks good, like old ivory!

Gary,
Up until you posted pics of your mammoth inlay Sebbie, the nicest one I'd ever seen was a Blackwood inlaid example that was up for sale a little while back in the For Sale forum,Large as well and I was seriously considering going for it but balked thinking if I would have someone would stick up a nice Bowie or fighter and I'd have had to miss out on it,being primarily a fixed blade guy although I do have a drawer full of folders,I don't have anything that nice.
Understand they come in several blade steels, will have to do the research, which steel is that one?
BTW/Great pics as usual.Thanks.

KCkc,very nice inlay as well on your Mnandi.

Doug

Fantastic pix G2. I'll have to work on my photography skills.

That's a used knife??
:D

I'm jealous again. ;)

Hehe, well, slightly used but certainly NOT abused, thanks again sir a
nice Halloween prize to be sure.

And Leatherbird, the steel is S30V while I've owned others, this one seems
to have a bit harder heat treat, as it takes a very sharp edge.

And I just love the contours and angles the classic model has, always been
my favourite design.

SWE, not sure, it may darken with use, but, it's already pretty aged!

Thanks TKC, I'm just a cuttin' fool today, home on vacation, catching up on
some work at home and burnin' up the remaining vacation days...

Nice Sebbie G2. Sounds like your are going to carry it, no? Good for you. I haven't brought myself to carrying mine. (Nice pictures as usual too!)

Very nice SuperD, small and a large, sweet and yes, carrying it upon getting
it, touched up the edge a little but that's about all, very sharp now!

I figure, how many years do we have around this burg? Might as well enjoy
the day and carry a pretty knife as well! :)
G2

for grunt duty, I also carry a few others ;)
like this nice William Henry, super sharp she be!

and you can notice the beads on that fob there, very special ones, the knife
normally doesn't have a fob, but I made a sheath to carry it tip up so I tightly
braided the leather around the last spacer and works great!

I agree 100%. Life is too short to carry a crappy knife!! Just have some that are in the 'safe queen' category (for now) and some that get in the pocket. I admire everyone that can carry the 'fancy' sebbies though. That is indeed what they were made for.

My safe queens have fled the castle, all that's left are the royal guards and
they are standing duty in the forefront ;)

I've stopped collecting of sorts, as of now I have a very fancy William Henry
posted up forsale, since getting this mammoth in I need to move that one
now, and, we shall see how long this one holds it's post!

Wonderful knife and wonderful photos. Don't let this one go. Gary, you are such a talented photographer.

Thanks Johnny, that's the plan, in fact, my youngest daughter was just
pointing that out to me, she said
So THIS is THE knife right?

She's so funny, I said yes I think it very well may be THE knife but time
will tell, she reminded me of the VAST number of previous THE knives
and I said she's getting more and more like her mother every day ;)
