As you may have noticed, I don't do flat grinds often. There is no particular reason behind this. I do them on commissions occasionally, but haven't done one to sell here yet.

This is intended to be a large and practical hunting knife. I took great care with the grind geometry, a near zero edge along the blade tapering slightly thicker at the tip for increased strength. This blade is a terrific performer, especially for its size. Nice balance and handling, light enough to dissappear on your hip, and heavy enough to feel like a reliable tool in hand. Power to weight ratio on this one is excellent.

The Redwood Burl is a piece from the special old growth batch that burl source sold a few months back. This is one of the best pieces I got from it. It has a complexity and figure that you just don't normally see in Redwood burl.

4.75" edge length, 10.5" OAL, 5.8oz,
CTS-XHP @61, .155" thick, full distal taper
K&G stabilized premium old growth Redwood burl
416ss hardware

$250 including leather sheath (not shown)

Myself as well. This old growth burl just plain looks old, but in the best possible way.

Thanks, the handle is my "signature" shape for this style of knife now. I've tried a few different ways of doing them and this is the one I enjoy most. It's an egg shaped front half and four sided back half.

Whew, saved me from myself. Beautiful knife. Love what you are putting out lately.

Not that my opinion's worth diddlysquat, but this is a winner pattern, Sir. Unbelievable price for such craftsmanship and materials.

It's definitely in my favorite size range for a fixed blade with a FFG. Love the choil and how it's going to make sharpening a breeze.

Not much not to like about this one, Sir!

Beautiful piece Ian. I make knives, not buy them, and I was tempted :)
