Large folder $40-$60 range

I carry a CRKT desert cruiser. Blade is 4 in. I have gave mine soem rough treatment and it still is going strong. Plus you can get one for around $25 shipped

I really like the crkt cruiser, it's got a really great handle. I have one that I completely destroyed in a few years of edc at work. It's not a bad knife, but it's just not a tough as other knives out there.

Dont know if this fits your bill but the Spyderco Tenacious is a 3.38 blade and is 4 oz which to me is pretty hefty.

From personal use on duty I'd put my vote on the 2010 Recon 1. I carry and use the tanto combo edge version on and off duty and it has yet to disappoint me. It came razor sharp and the serrations have cut through all sorts of things. The 2010 version has a very ergonomic handle and has a thick blade for (heaven forbid) light prying. Not to mention the triad lock making it damn near indestructible. There's some great videos on it on youtube if you care to take a look. I would link them for you, but I'm only on my phone and can't do that from here. I hope this helps, take care, J.

Byrd Cara Cara,

big, strong and holds a edge well. I've been using one at work for over a year and it has help up to alot of abuse

DC'd, but not too hard to find. Really strong knife, and the handle fits like a glove! Under $40 easy.

I've never seen so many first time posters in a single thread...... Welcome to BF everyone!

I've had many folders pass through my hands in past years and nothing has impressed me more than the new CS line up. The company has been bashed pretty hard in the past because the owner is a certified tool, but they have really outdone themselves with their new folders.

My current carry is the AK-47, but nearly anyone you choose will do. I would strongly suggest one with the tri-ad lock though.
