Fantoni hb01, it is the same oal as the military but has a much better blade to handle ratio. The blade is a beastly 4 1/4" and is smooth as glass once broken in. Mine came with s35vn as opposed to the s30v that knife art sais it has. One of the down sides is ease of maintenance. It has close to 15 screws you have to remove to fully break it down, and it's quite finicky. I put the pivot screws in backwards which created blade play, and it took me about 3 days to realize that's what was causing it. All in all it is a great option if you are looking for a large folder.
If you've really got some money to spend you could pick up the le s125v version.

Here's the LE s125v version

You like your Spydercos so consider -
Spyderco Hungarian folder collaboration with Szakonyi Gábor.
Spyderco Vallotton collaboration with Butch Vallotton. Already mentioned, a tank of a knife that looks smaller than it actually is.
Spyderco Bradley folder collaboration with Gayle Bradley.

Thanks for the feed back !
I've looked at a lot of the suggestions prior to my post, some since, and others warrant some homework.
The Fantoni had seriously caught my attention in the past but may be more of a pita maintenance wise
(thanks for the disassembly info)
While I've really come to like my 0801, I dont think I'm looking for a flipper to fill this slot, thumb operation is what I've
become instinctively used to since changing over from my Buck's 25 yrs ago and you can assure they'll open every time.
ZT's quality and customer service has impressed me, I've missed a couple of 0630's listed here but they dont seem to be readily available.
So I'll think on it, while I have more to look at other options,I think some contenders could be a Contego, 0200 or maybe a used Seb. 25, SNG, Roadhouse, or....?

I would also suggest a BM 710 in either m390 or M4 depending on your price range.

Strider and Emerson have great customer service. Strider has a FB page that is visited daily by a manager there and they jump on issues. People have mentioned their great experiences when people question it there. Emerson has great service also and their newer models have great QC. Take a look at the Emerson CQC-8. About the size of a Military. I have one and absolutely love the design.

Two knives very close in size to each other as well as the Military are the Benchmade Contego (in either M4 or M390) and Emerson CQC-8. Both great, very capable knives.

How about an Al Mar sere, shrike or payara. All are excellent knives with super F & F. Spyderco VALLOTIN is also a great, solid knife. Something about it reminds me of a traditional. Emerson cqc 8 is also a proven performer, and has been for 30 yrs. Good luck with your search

Thanks, I appreciate the link!
I'd seen that thread...
it's what prompted my additional inquiry.

Since you like the Military, why not wait for the Knifeworks exclusive military in Ti/CF and S90v. That would be a great upgrade to a familiar knife for you.
