I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Beasts from Extrema Ratio.... Supposed to be BIG and BAD
Can't go wrong with the Demko Knives though

The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

what about a benchmade 710? way under your budget, but i think it would serve quite nicely. the AXIS lock is very strong, and it has a 3.9 inch blade.
A strong folder is what I'm really after, I'm just a sucker for over-engineered knives. I'm not naive enough to believe I can replace a fixed with a folder, however, I'm not really into small fixed blades, therefore a folder that sort of mixes some of the qualities of the two would do.
For straight up abuse, nothing beats my ESEE RC-5.
This would be the knife that you would want, but it's more than your budget and Andrew has a long waiting list.

damnit....beat me to it. I didn't read the whole thread... Mine is coming in DECEMBER!!! - full thickness TI liners, blade in M390- his wait is up to a year now. THERE is one seller out there that has 1 carbon fiber demko for sale - but he wants 800 for it... and it's not quite the same one as in the video, little older model. the "AD - 10" style I believe it's called in the video... This guy's G10 Demko is spectacular...and he got another one????? jesus....jealous!
found the link to the seller: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...drew-Demko-Triad-Lock-folders?highlight=Demko
I emailed him about 2 weeks ago - the carbon fiber demko is still available...
Here's mine...

NOT FAIR!!! you can't post your never to be made again 1 time only Demko!! -- LOL! I think it's your AD-10 custom and your videos that got me intrigued enough to get on the waiting list in January... really a beautiful piece of work.
Camp duties, whittling, splitting, prying, anything that could be expected to be thrown at a similar sized fixed blade.
Yes. with your budget, i would get an 0300 and then have someone regrind it to full convex.
strength doesn't get much better than a titanium framelock.
Umm... Most titanium framelocks are weaker than a solid linerlock. Titanium is a relatively mushy material compared with steel. Reliability is what you get, overall strength is average.
The Axis lock, Tri Ad lock, and Ball Bearing lock will take a much heavier load.
