Large folder vs Fixed blade

I'm glad to hear that I'm not completely out to lunch on this. When I saw some of the monster folders I thought there must be something I wasn't getting. They weigh more than a lot of my fixed blades and are bulkier.

IMO a big part of it depends on where you live. In some places carrying a fixed blade is illegal or socially unacceptable.

There are a few giant folders that are light and easier to carry than fixed blades of the same size, such as the Cold Steel Voyager and Vaquero series.
