Large folder?!!

lol, no problem. When someone is looking for a gentleman's knife, or a light edc blade or something, well, i usually suggest a different company, but when someone is asking for large folders...cold steel comes immediately to mind, heh. I have no problems with their stuff...sure, they don't use super steels or anything, but they make good beater blades. Razor sharp out of box, easy to resharpen, not too expensive...okay, yeah, their advertising is a bit, well, over the top, but that's not an issue for me as long the knives are good, and cs has plenty of good knives imo.

agreed!!!

I love large folders. Nothing beats the "thunk" of flicking it open and seeing the shocked look on the faces of the sheeple.

So many good options, hard to go wrong. I'll throw out a vote for ZT 0560/1 or a Spyderco Military. If looking for something not quite as common a Grayman looks like it would do!

Brous Division Flipper. I'll admit I'm not a fan of some of his designs, didn't care for the SS Flipper I had. But the Division looks just wonderful.

I only have 2, a CRKT Desert Cruiser which is growing on me and a Kershaw Tremor that I love. For their prices ($15-25) they are worth every penny.

They're both about 9" OAL and hefty. The Tremor is lighter by a little bit, 8CR13MOV stonewashed blade with stonewashed liners, G10 scales and has the Speedsafe AO while the CRKT is AUS8 and manual with the LAWKS system in a satin finish and a zytel handle. I think my favorite part about Tremor besides the scary sharpness of the blade brand new is the way it flies open and smacks. It definitely demands attention when you open it. Here's some pics:

My experience too. Admittedly I own one Cold Steel knife (the Espada XL) but it's definitely huge. The shocking thing is how they managed to make a knife that large ride so easily in the pocket. It's like they said, "how big a knife can we fit in a pocket?" and then made it.

That and the fact they make a knife that size that can push cut printer paper out of the box. Other knives I own I had to sharpen/hone the knives myself to get that result.

No budget?
Hinderer XM-24 Flipper then.

But the first two off the top of my head are:
BM 810 Contego, awesome big beefy knife without being too beefy and the M4 steel is AWESOME.

Also, Spyderco Tuff. That thing is a tank, different looks, 3V steel, Ti frame lock, good price, just a lot of awesome in one package.

HTM MAD MAXX 5.5 Its got a big old spear point blade with a Ti frame and carbon fiber inlays. Can be assisted or ride on bearing and its a tank of a flipper.

CS Talwar, extremely well made. I don't know what they do to the AUS8a steel the company uses that makes the knife but it is in a word superb. Just a straight razor and stays that way. keepem sharp
