Hey guys, so Im posting a new gyuto im grinding out. The steel is O2, length of the blade is 9.75 inches and about 2.5 inches tall.

First things first, I trace my pattern on to the steel. This is my basic gyuto pattern, im a big fan of it

Next I come over to the 1949 wilton bandsaw to rough out the profile

And not its over to the belt grinder to refine the edge profile "On very large, thin knives like this i like to keep the back totally flat until later in the process"

You may also notice the strange handle shape. This knife is going to have a hidden tang Wa handle, but in the meantime I like to make a larger handle so i have somthing to hold on to. I just deburr it well and will grind it off later in the process

Didnt take any photos during grinding, but here is the knife after rough grinding

And now I took it down to 400 grit to get it ready for heat treatment and thin the edge down to .035

Im going to grind out a few more knives then send them out for heat treatment, ill be showing how I make my wa handles and busting out some extra fancy woods!

Nice! I am in particular curios how you make WA handles - I am looking forward to learn something new here :)

Good start! I'll bet you have some stunning blocks for handles. Excited to see what you choose.
