both knifes are 5160 steel from an American foundry up North. The stuff is being used for military applications. It is oil quenched from critical temp and tempered out at 400 degrees to achieve a hardness around 57-59. The woods are local to Ohio and come from an Mill north of me and are dried in my buddy's kiln before being sent out to WSSI for stabilizing. This one is Ambrosia Flamed Maple, the streaks are brought on by the ambrosia beetle the burrows into the wood leaving small holes. I am an avid Indian artifact "hunter" and spend may hours walking the plowed fields of rural Ohio looking for pieces. This love of artifacts inspired the tooling on both leather sheaths.
