I had that happen once. I started saying "the first to post I'll take it, gets it" that way if someone responds with a pm and someone posts in the thread it goes to the thread poster.
I'm not sure how to solve the present problem. Maybe put one of them at the top of your order list for the next one.

A good rule is to have people post an "I'll take it" in the specific sale thread followed up by a private message or email - you specify which.

I've found it helps clarify things a bit when selling... Just my opinion of course.
