Large Inkosi vs 3.5" XM 18

Yep. So far, I like it a lot.

I really like the original CRK clip too.... I'm just trying out something different over the last couple weeks...

Nice. I've been going back and forth about ordering one or two of them. Looks pretty good on the Large Inkosi!

What's your overall impression of the knife? An improvement over the 21/25 in your eyes?

Yeah, I have both and my personal preference leans towards the Inkosi for sure.

For me, it runs smoother, and I like the angled pocket clip. I also disliked the stop pin configuration on the 25.

Awesome. I rarely see people rave about smoothness on a CRK outside of the Sebenza, but my Umnumzaan is much smoother than either of my large 21's. I really enjoy the ball detent / lockbar insert, and the bigger adjustable pivot. While I love the action on my 21's, I don't view the loss of the pivot bushing as an issue. My Umnumzaan was butter right out of the box.

I have a small Inkosi on the way. Really pumped to see these features on a small knife, but I went ahead and pre-ordered the large as well. Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

Agreed. The small inkosi is what I carry almost everyday at work. Almost always in a CRK slip case. It is definitely my smoothest knife out of the box. I actually just traded a small Sebenza today for another small inkosi. Not sure why I need two but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

By the way, since you mentioned the MXG clips. I tried the small MXG low rider clip on the small inkosi and I prefer the stock clip because the MXG messed with my grip and did not feel right when squeezed tight... I am going to try out the large clip on the small to see if that alleviates the problem but if it doesn't I am going back to the stock clip.

I really like it on the large Inkosi though.

Here's a few more photos and observations compared to the Sebenza 25.

Compared to the the Sebenza 25, I like the 25 more because I like the primary grind better- it's far less hollow than the Inkosi. I don't know if the exposed washer pockets will be a problem on the Inkosi, but sand and grit can (and will) get in there in field use. Pocket lint may not be a huge issue with that. The pocket clip resting on the frame and not the lock bar is a non-issue for may hand size and shape in any grip with regards to hot spots. However, I think it does help by eliminating inadvertent pressure on the detent position when opening.

Great comparison shots, Wavicle. I'm a little concerned about the exposed grease pockets. Seems like it will lend itself to more frequent / unnecessary maintenance. The knife is easy enough to take down and clean, but still...it'll be interesting to see if they make any tweaks to the production models.

I realize there are very few Large Inkosis out there, but it definitely seems to be a rather polarizing knife thus far. People either love it or hate it. It'll be nice to see more opinions / review videos after a more widespread release.

My XM-18 3.5 flips like a dream! Buttery smooth flawless in every way. I absolutely love it. I do enjoy the Sebenza as well but I don't consider them as robust. The ergonomics are far superior on the Hinderer IMO.

Both companies make awesome knives. There really is no reason to debate over which is better.

I agree, well said. We're lucky to have both available to us to even debate over, and they both have great merits.

I often carry one of each just to be able to admire them.
