Large is Large

I bought my first Sebenza, a small, in 04. When the micarta's first debuted at Blade in 05 I got the small and large.
I really love both, but the first thing that came to mind was how nice it would be to have one in the middle.

I know CRK keeps their folder frame models to a minimum, and that's often a good thing as parts will be around for a long time.
I feel a small, medium, and large would still leave them with far fewer designs than other companies, and I don't think a medium would affect the sale of the large or small.

Set up cost would be expensive, but I think they would sell well enough to pay them off pretty quick.
I know I(and may others) have wanted one for a long time, and would buy one as soon as they came out.
As it is now I kinda doubt I'll buy anymore CRK folders, as I have already have more than I need.

I'll keep dreaming, but I'm about 99.9% sure a medium will never happen.

The large regular is my fav user, the small though is perfect size for carry, about the size of a pack of gum. That said I sold all my small and my only Sebs are large now.

For me the perfect size would be halfway between the large and small....I carry a large regular but I wish it was just a tad smaller for an EDC. The small doesn't take up enough room in my hand to be comfortable and feel right.

I tried but I just couldn't do it.

I carried the large all weekend. Well, almost. I had to get a little dressy to go out Saturday night so I put on some nice khakis. I put the large in my pocket and it looked pretty lame--and at 6'5" it's not like I have little pockets.

Even so yesterday I had decided to keep it. I got out several knives and boxes so I could take pics this morning and post them on the sales forum to pay for the large Sebenza. This morning I looked at it again and backed out. I sold the large Sebenza to a very nice fellow forum member without even having to post it on the sales forum and put my other knives and boxes away.

So now I know that 1) the large Sebenza is by far the nicest large folder I've ever handled, and 2) I just can't spend that much on a knife I can't carry regularly.

To console myself I'm sitting here playing with my very slick small Sebenza. :) It might not be quite as comfortable in my hand as the large but I can carry it everyday.

We are all so different :)

Ten years ago I shot a 10' brown bear. After the pictures we had to get down to skinning. My guide pulls out a small slip joint and starts getting to work. When I saw him pull that little blade out I was quite surprised. That is all he used on every trip minus the moose I shot. So that experience got me hooked on small blades.

I still prefer my large regulars and my zaan. I ride 20,000 miles a year on my bike. I like to feel that large in the crook of my hip, without having to feel for it. It's not a matter of better for me, it's application for my lifestyle.

Maybe the inlayed small Sebbies are a solution for filling up your hand!
Don't own one, but hear a lot of good rumours about these knives, especially the micarta ones.....?!

Might be worth a shot

WOW, your 6'5" and you like the small compared to the large? I have to say that I'm surprised. I'm about average and the small is harder for me to open so I prefer the large. But I don't carry any of my Sebbies with me.

I've never had a problem opening the small--silky smooth one-handed. The large definitely fits my hand better but not my pockets, unfortunately.

The large is not for me.

I'd love to see a smaller Sebenza.

One day I'd love to find an Umfaan.

Sounds like there are a few of us out there. :)

I would have been seriously bummed to sell the large if I wouldn't have had a small. The small is such a great knife I couldn't shed too many tears at the loss of the large.

Wish they'd make a Sebenza between large and small.
I have been hoping for a mid Sebenza for years. It would be perfect for me. I doubt it will ever happen though. The manufactures seem to like 3.5" and sub 3" for the knife laws. So I carry my small. I buy large from time to time, and they sit in my drawer until I sell them. They are just a bit large for my tastes.

I really like the small inlays and they do fill the hand better in my opinion. I have always loved the small micarta, but just sold mine in order to start carrying my mammoth full time.

I really like seeing guys carrying the coolest Sebenzas--like your mammoth. I'm not sure why but it makes me a little sad to think of all the gorgeous Sebenzas locked away--never to be used. I'm not knocking the folks that do it--I just like seeing nice tools doing what they were designed for.

No offense taken :) I do understand your comment and once in a while I think I should sell off my tucked away ones and only keep my couple of users.
